Jesus said: “You must be born again” (John 3:7).
What does it mean to be "born again"? It means that " the old Adamic "i" has died with Christ, and it is no longer that "i" that lives but the Christ" (Gal. 2.20, and see also 2 Cor. 5:14).
A born-again person is one who, through FAITH, has given over his or her life wholly to the Christ, so that although externally the world still sees only the old person, it is now really the Christ who is living in and through the old body.
A born-again person is one whose sins have all been washed in the blood of the lamb, and who has been ransomed, delivered and wholly redeemed, through FAITH. He/she is no longer subject to the "law of sin and death" (Rom. 8:2) but lives the new life entirely to the glory of the Risen Lord.
A born-again person will not expect to win God's favour, or expect to go to heaven, by doing good works, or through church activities, or on the back of charity work, but will depend solely on the righteousness of the indwelling Christ. God will not look at our good works, but only look to see who is living our life, the Risen Christ or Satan! God will look to see whether we have come through His Son's cross or whether we are robbers who are trying to climb over the wall into God's throne room.
Against such a born-again person, against someone who has been to the cross and has fully identified with the crucified Christ in His death, and has been cleansed in His Blood, there is nor more judgement, no more condemnation (read Romans chapter 6 and Romans 8:1).
However, although the Christ is now the driver in the seat of the born-again person’s life, the cells of their body and brain, and especially the cells of the tongue, still tend to go their own way and rebel against the indwelling Christ (read Romans chapter 7).
Every born-again person will experience that conflict and suffer great anguish. Their experience will be rather like a train or a car that continues to go forward on momentum even though the power has been shut off. A vehicle going forward propelled only by momentum can crash or veer off the road. So even a born-again person can still commit sins but as long as they are not intended or deliberate, and as long as they do not become a habit built on the belief that God will always forgive, and as long as there is quickly a contrition and repentance and a turning to God seeking forgiveness, there will be no judgement against such sins before the throne of God.
To make sure that the cells of your body obey the Risen Christ who now dwells within you, and that they do not continue to obey Satan, seek the Blood of Jesus constantly to flow in your arteries, and through your brain, and especially in your tongue. Sins are committed first in one's brain and through one's tongue and other parts of the body. The way to defeat Satan is constantly to invoke the Blood of the Lamb in your brain and in the members and limbs of your body. There is power in the Blood!
