We can only escape from the Law of Sin and Death (LOSAD) and come to live under the Law of the Spirit of Christ ..... through faith in Jesus’s work upon the Cross.
Greatly troubled in spirit over the trend of events throughout the world, particularly in the Mid-East in the recent weeks, I sought light and wisdom from the Lord.
As I sat for hours in meditation and prayer late one night, the Voice sounded in my spiritual ear with the clarity of a bell and now I want to share, with whoever has ears to hear, the guidance I received.
I set out below in a very condensed and digestible form what I heard, but its entirety would require a complete book for its expression.
Although the Voice spoke primarily to me, I am happy to share it with whoever is willing to listen, because that was what I was asked to do. However, one thing I enjoin on whoever reads this, and that is that, should he/she be prompted to share it with anyone, don't pick and choose only those bits with which you agree, for the whole thing is the expression of a single vision, and excerpts extracted from here and there will destroy its integrity.
These lines are not to be read as theology or as a piece of prose, but to be meditated upon, line by line, prayerfully, under the guidance of the Holy Spirit. However, the full understanding of what is recorded here can take years or decades! Furthermore, what is set out here may seem to undermine the very foundations of what the readers believe in now. That is inevitable. If that be the case, I would suggest that they suspend for the time being the things they cannot comprehend or the things which contradict what they believe in now, and a time may come when their truth may unfold to them.
Thus have I heard
The world seems still to be under the power of sin because while Jesus Christ crucified the world and although "all died when he died" (2 Cor. 5:14-21) believers have not understood what it was that Jesus crucified on Calvary. Jesus crucified the "world" and "all died when He died" - but what is the world that He crucified?
"The world" to which 2 Corinthians chapter 5 refers is the product, or the totality of effects, of the Law of Sin and Death (LOSAD). The LOSAD of the New Testament is, in principle, the law of the Old Testament which is also described as the law of Moses. Under the Old Covenant (Testament), the Israelites were given hunD&Reds of commands, but the phrase “the law” refers specifically to the body of law, or commands, contained in the first five books of the Bible.
Believers fail to appropriate the truth of 2 Corinthians 5:14-21 and Galatians 6:14 if they have not fully understood how LOSAD works and what it was that triggered it.
Because most people have not invoked and trusted in the Death and Resurrection (D&R) of Jesus Christ for their redemption on a daily basis, most of the human race has continued to accumulate debts under LOSAD (i.e. under the principle “as you sow, so shall you reap”). That is why there is still so much sin striding through the world. Those debts continue to escalate, inexorably, and we can see the dire and terrifying effects all around the world. In the Gospels, Jesus warns us about these effects, and they are portrayed in the Book of Revelation – the ending of the world followed by the Second Coming of Jesus Christ.
Meanwhile, if even a few can get a deeper understanding of the Lord's Death and Resurrection they will be able not only to save themselves from the approaching cataclysm but also serve as God's instruments for saving others. However, for this to happen they must first get a deeper understanding of the LOSAD and the D&R and be willing to shake off erroneous beliefs and superstitions that now cloud their spiritual understanding. Let not the blind seek to lead the blind.
Understand what LOSAD is and understand how Jesus Christ delivered the world from its power. Also, understand how the power of the D&R may be invoked even today to overcome LOSAD as it confronts you on a daily basis. That is all anyone needs to know. Every religious or spiritual activity that ignores this, however sincere, however emotional and pious, is simply consorting with the Law and a waste of time.
LOSAD is like the power of gravity. Just as everyone on earth is under the law of gravity, except the one who has mastered the jet principle and has harnessed it to launch out into space, everyone on earth is under LOSAD, except the one who has placed his trust in the D&R and come under the power of another law, which is the Law of the Spirit of Christ (LOTSOC), or Grace, the spiritual equivalent of the jet principle. The apostle Paul expresses it this way: “the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has made me free from the law of sin and death” (Romans 8:2).
If you want to be reconciled to God and be "saved", and thereby live a more fulfilled, harmonious and joyful life under Grace, and also want to help your family, your friends and relatives, your church and society, and the world in general, to live likewise, there are three things you need to do.
First, you need to understand what LOSAD is, how it was first set in motion, its complexity and its ramifications and power, because all those whom you want to help are, without exception, still under LOSAD.
Secondly, learn how the Death and Resurrection, which is the spiritual equivalent of the jet principle, overcame the effects of LOSAD.
Thirdly, understand how the D&R can be invoked even now for settling moral and spiritual debts that keep accumulating under LOSAD.
If you can grasp those three truths you will most assuredly break out of spiritual bondage and demonstrate the Kingdom on earth, in your own life and in the lives of those around you.
All of the promises that God gave in His Word are absolutely true and can be realised on earth, here and now. Yes, His promise of eternal and abundant life, free from sin, free from disease, decay and death, here on earth as it is heaven, is true. You do not have to wait for the Second Coming for this promise to be fulfilled, but churches and believers have first to shake free from the dense layers of erroneous beliefs and superstitions which still shroud their understanding. As Jesus said, you cannot put new wine in old bottles.
The problem is that while claiming that Jesus is the answer to every problem, few seem to know what precisely the problem is, except to refer to it vaguely as "original sin", or "Satan" or the "Devil".
The basic problem facing humankind from the beginning is the apparent inevitability of disease, decay and death. Disease, decay and death are the effects of LOSAD. Every believer and every church preaches that Jesus conquered death. Then why do believers and human beings still die? Believers sing hosannas that Jesus took away their sins; then why is there still so much sin sloshing around in the world?
When trying to understand LOSAD and the D&R, do not say, "All that is very elementary. We know all about it." The truth, however is that 2004 years on, the world still lacks a complete understanding of LOSAD or about the D&R.
That is why it looks as if the redemption never took place.
What is given here is an insight into LOSAD, how it was first set in motion, how it works, how Jesus broke its power, and how you and I can overcome it in our own lives and in the lives of those around us, on a daily basis.
What is LOSAD?
First, let us try to understand LOSAD. Let us understand how it was first set in motion, what triggers it now, how it operates on a daily basis and why, through whom, and through what it works.
Traditional Christian belief, based on a literal reading of the Bible, confuses LOSAD for its effects and encapsulates it vaguely as Sin or personalises it as Satan or the Devil. Mired in such simplistic concepts, without understanding fully the reality that lurks behind them, believers have been released from the need to understand LOSAD.
Personalising LOSAD as Satan may be all right at an elementary level of spiritual development, but as believers mature they must move on if they are to benefit fully from the D&R. Unless believers depersonalise Satan and gain an understanding of the power of the impersonal LOSAD, they will never understand why only the omnipotence of the D&R could break it, and unless they understand how the D&R broke the power of LOSAD, they will continue to remain under it.
What is LOSAD? LOSAD is a quality or characteristic of the environment in which all those who are separated from God have to live, in the same way that gravity is a characteristic of the environment by which all things on earth – whether butterflies or elephants – are bound.
For untold thousands of years man lived under the power of gravity without even knowing that it was there, or how it worked. That is, until by the late 19th century human beings had discovered the secrets of aerodynamics and thereby learnt how to overcome gravity to some degree. By the mid 20th century they had advanced still more and had learnt how to break out of the earth's gravity field altogether and launch out into space, by exploiting the jet principle.
We may now transpose this metaphor to our understanding of LOSAD and the role of the D&R in breaking its power.
Like gravity, LOSAD is a tyrannical presence. Before Abraham, the people of the Bible had no concept of LOSAD at all. However, after Abraham, that is, under the Old Testament (OT), a very rudimentary understanding of LOSAD began to emerge among the Jewish people. They referred to it simply as the “Law” which God handed down to Moses, and their prayer and worship was only an attempt to work within that Law. But they had no understanding of how to break it. Let me explain.
Butterflies and birds and even aeroplanes, though they seem to defy gravity, actually work with and within gravity. They exploit the principle of aerodynamics to rise slightly above the ground, and in the case of aeroplanes many more thousands of feet above the ground, but guided only by the principle of aerodynamics; they can never break out of the gravity field itself. To break completely free of the gravity field they need to harness a completely different principle – the jet principle!
Before the revelation of the OT, the Jewish people dwelt like the tortoise, completely earthbound. After Abraham, however, and throughout the OT period, they learnt something about LOSAD, calling it the Law of Moses, but their prayer and worship were comparable to the efforts of the birds to break out of gravity. Prayer and worship under the OT just got human beings only so high, but no higher.
The Jewish people had to wait for Jesus to show how the power of the Law and its effects can be broken through his D&R, which however they rejected and have refused to accept to this day. In that sense the D&R is comparable to the discovery of the jet principle which enabled man to break out of the gravity field and launch into space, where human beings are free from gravity.
The problem with the Jewish people of the OT, and also with the vast majority of believers in Christ since then, is that they are quite content to remain bound by LOSAD and keep trying to rise above it only to the extent that birds and aeroplanes seek to rise above gravity.
Content to remain bound to the OT they are not willing to let go and climb aboard the new Law, the Law of the Spirit of Christ (LOTSOC) or the Law of Grace, and thus to break out of the gravity field through the D&R.
The tribulations suffered by the Jewish people over the past 2004 years after the D&R illustrate clearly the consequences that await those who, having had the opportunity to move out from LOSAD, are determined to remain wedded to it.
Origin of LOSAD
But first let's see how LOSAD came to be and understand some of its ramifications and complex operations.
LOSAD was triggered at the Garden of Eden itself and not, as it is traditionally believed, on Mount Sinai; that is at the point at which man felt that his consciousness had developed to a point that he could challenge God. To limit the Law to the Ten Commandments (TC) is grossly to misunderstand it. LOSAD is much wider than the TC, which we may refer to simply as regulations under it, or as a set of detailed and concrete expressions of the Law.
If LOSAD came into operation only after Mount Sinai, does it mean that for the thousands of years the human race was on earth before Moses, in various continents of the world, there was no moral law and that there was no reckoning of sin? No! LOSAD kicked in the very moment humanity's consciousness challenged God through their disobedience. Whether we believe the Genesis story in the Garden of Eden to be a literal account or an allegory, the truth of that disobedience – humanity’s rebellion against God – is nevertheless clearly portrayed by the responses of Adam and Eve.
LOSAD was a dispensation already in place and waiting to kick in the moment anyone chose to rebel against God, like gravity was a dispensation already in place for whoever chose to live on earth. Even if no man ever lived on earth the law of gravity was already in place. God made this clear to Adam and Eve when He commanded them not to eat of the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil. What He meant was that if they disobeyed Him they would be expressing self-will (EGO) and that they would automatically slip into a world of dualism (Good and Evil). Thereafter they would be continuously and unremittingly frustrated by LOSAD until, driven to desperation by its ferocity (personalised as Satanic power) and wearying of their disobedience, they would be compelled to return to Him. It was as if God told man, "All right! If you want to live on your own, apart from me, you will have to live under the power of LOSAD just as those who live on planet earth have to submit to the power of gravity".
Simply put, LOSAD stipulates that if human beings want to live separate and apart from God, they will incur certain consequences which are: eternal conflict, aggression, violence, war, disease, decay and death, poverty, fear, anxiety and depression, bitterness and resentment, etc, etc. It is not God who enforces these outcomes, but LOSAD enforces them itself, in the same way that the law of gravity enforces itself on anyone or anything who chooses to live on earth.
However, please note, LOSAD is itself not Sin but merely enforces penalties for sins. It is triggered by Sin and it penalises sins. But, it is itself not Sin. By itself, gravity does not break your bones, but if we are stupid enough to step out of the 10th floor in violation of it, it will crush our bones. What crushes our bones is not gravity itself, but our violation of the law of gravity.
Let me give you an analogy to illustrate this point. Inside the jumbo jet flying at 40,000 feet, passengers are reclining and having their drinks in air-conditioned comfort, with lights ablaze and in a comfortable 22C temperature. They hardly know that the plane is rushing along at 600mph. However, unbeknown to them, the temperature outside the plane is minus 40 C, it is pitch dark, the wind is howling past the plane at 150 mph and the pressure is so low that if anyone so much as even thrusts a finger out, it will explode like a cracker. The passengers do not even know who is piloting the plane. However, some smart and wilful person decides to step out from the plane and inevitably incurs the consequences. At the Garden of Eden, Adam and Eve, and with them all their descendants, decided to step out of the plane to savour life outside. The rest is history.
LOSAD was set in motion the very moment Adam and Eve declared themselves to be separate and independent of God.
That separation was the work of EGO. That was the Original Sin – EGO, leading to separation, and that is still the problem with the world – ego and separation.
Let me present this truth diagrammatically:
EGO = Original Sin =Separation = Dualism (knowledge of Good and Evil) = LOSAD = Fear = Conflict = Violence = War =Misery = Poverty = Disease = Decay = Death.
Original Sin was the initial separation from God and it was EGO that prompted the separation. EGO led to separation, which led to Dualism which in turn triggered LOSAD. To repeat, LOSAD is not Sin but a power that is triggered by the original Sin – Ego.
What is EGO?
It is the affirmation of a false sense of “I” or self. It is self-will or disobedience that is represented though the Adam and Eve story. The serpent was not necessarily an external entity. The serpent was EGO and it arose within Adam and Eve’s consciousness. EGO is the claim of an identity separate and apart from God. EGO was humanity's declaration of a false "i am" in opposition to the only "I AM" there is – the "I AM that I AM" who is God the Father. The moment human beings set himself up on their own, under the umbrella of their own EGO, LOSAD kicked in and humanity started accumulating moral and spiritual debts.
LOSAD is essentially God's inflexible ground rules for playing the game of separation and dualism. It is as if God said, "If that is how you want to play it, then here are the ground rules.”
The basic rule governing separation/dualism is, "as you sow you shall reap".
This was the law thundered forth in Genesis chapter 2. In this chapter, humanity had been given an opportunity to taste of the fruits of any tree in the Garden except the fruits of the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil (Dualism). God told Adam and Eve that if they set up shop on their own, certain consequences will follow, which He spelt out clearly. The basic concept underlying LOSAD is, “if this – then that". If you do this, that will follow. That was the Law that fallen humanity had to live by. The subclauses of the Law were spelt out later in the Ten Commandments, as the Law of Moses.
But the basic overall Law may be summed up as: "If you sow, you shall reap, and for every thought or action there is a corresponding thought or reaction. Therefore, if you sow negatively either through thought, word or deed, you will reap a negative harvest, in thought word or deed. On the other hand if you sow positively, through thought, word, or deed, you will reap a positive harvest through thought, word, and deed".
All religions recognise this truth and therefore ask their followers to do good as much as possible and to avoid evil as much as possible. However, even though human beings may do the maximum good, they still remain firmly within LOSAD. All religions besides the religion of Jesus Christ are religions of the Law – principally, Judaism, Buddhism, Hinduism and Islam and even the OT of the Bible. I emphasise, they are all religions of the Law. They encourage people to conform to the Law and to live harmoniously within it, to be law-abiding citizens but not to break out of it. That is excellent as far as it goes. It makes us good and decent citizens. However, even good and decent citizens continue to fall ill, suffer pain and loss, live in poverty and feel miserable and die.
Showing people that there is a realm that is beyond and above LOSAD and showing them how to break out of LOSAD is the unique distinction of the New Testament. That is a distinction that only a few churches, theologians and believers have yet made or teach.
Now can we understand why there is still so much misery on earth? People are still under the power of Ego – Separation – Dualism, which keeps LOSAD active.
“I come not to bring peace but a sword”.
The fundamental characteristic that distinguishes the religion of Jesus Christ from all other religions, even from the OT, is that Jesus came not to help human beings live harmoniously within LOSAD but to break out of it, to deliver us from its shackles. The only way to break the power of LOSAD is to take away the sins that triggered it, and additionally put away the sinner (EGO) who keeps churning out sins. This is what Jesus did on the Cross – through His D&R. Jesus not only took away all humanity’s accumulated sins but for good measure also polished off the sinner, the EGO, or the First Adam, as Paul calls him.
Jesus Christ was the world's greatest lawbreaker! The religion of Jesus Christ is the religion of Grace and the gateway to Grace is the D&R. Other religions, including Judaism and the OT, seek to enable man to live law-abiding lives, under the Law. Therefore anyone who has not grasped what LOSAD is and how it works and the meaning of the D&R, but is content to be church-going, pious, good and righteous, and is constantly checking back to see whether his or her conduct and thoughts conform to Leviticus, etc. remain firmly under the Law and will suffer under it. That is why there is so much suffering even among those who call are Christians. They are all still under LOSAD.
Demands and payments under LOSAD
Let us go deeper into how LOSAD works.
Because the entirety of reactions provoked by a single person’s thoughts and actions (the penalties for his sins) during one lifetime can never be harvested within his/her own lifetime, the unharvested reactions/penalties have to be picked up, or paid off, by the whole of his/her family and his society, and by successive generations, forever and forever and forever.
Let me be more concrete. During my lifetime of 74 years, the number of times I have fallen foul of the Law (my sins) are uncountable and every such violation has incurred a reaction or a harvest or a debt. However, even if I were to live for a thousand years I will not be able to pay off that debt. Therefore, when I die, I will leave a mountain of uncleared debts which simply must be paid off. It can be paid off in several ways.
One way is for my soul to reincarnate and resume its journey on earth, which the Buddhists call rebirth. But during that second lifetime on earth, I will continue to accumulate debts (sins) and far from paying off my old debts, will only add to the existing debt and by the time I die the second time around, I will carry with me an even larger volume of debts than I started with. So on and so forth, the mountain of debts keeps growing and growing and I remain like a squirrel in a cage, totally incapable of breaking out, but gyrating within it eternally, sinning, reaping the harvest, sinning again, and harvesting again, eternally. Buddhists call this "sansaara" and the Bible calls it eternal damnation or Hell.
However, while I keep gyrating within that squirrel cage, because I simply cannot pay off my debts, some of my sins/debts seep or spill over to others. First, to members of my family and secondly to my society.
Seepage to my family has to be borne by members of my nuclear family, and vice versa. Seepage of my sins is also transmitted unto the fourth generation, which means eternally, because the fourth generation is the first of the next slab of four generations and therefore an unending pile of four-generation slabs keep piling up, pile upon pile, one on top of the other, eternally.
Seepage to and from my society links me to the history of my race. While I harvest sins left unpaid by my ancestors I also imbibe part responsibility for sins being committed right now by my government or by whoever I am linked to or support. For example, if I endorse, by thought, word, or deed, the happenings in Iraq, or take sides for Bush against Al Qaeda, or vice versa, or support Israel against Palestine, or vice versa, or support Sinhala against Tamil, or vice versa, I am immediately sucked into the vortex of their own debts/sins and may find myself a victim of an explosion that was not intended for me at all.
LOSAD works not only through human agencies. It also works through all other living creatures, from microbes, bacteria and viruses to mosquitoes, mad dogs and rampaging elephants. That explains, plagues, epidemics, HIV, etc. That is not all.
LOSAD also works through inanimate matter – earthquakes (the Tsunami of 2004 occurred shortly after this was written), floods, tidal waves, volcanoes and all those things which "Christendom" often calls "Acts of God". Can we see the significance of that concept? Rather than admit that we are the people responsible even for what are called natural disasters, we conveniently transfer responsibility to God.
Those who believe in a God of anger and wrath, of vengeance and punishment, will find it quite convenient to attribute to God responsibility for the deaths of millions of people who die through "natural disasters", rather than admit that the so-called Acts of God are merely the outworking of humanity's own evil.
God's creation is absolutely perfect. He never made a mountain to slide down on a town and obliterate its inhabitants. Every single atom, every molecule, every living cell in God's creation was intended to work with each other in perfect harmony to bring forth God's glory and beauty. If those atoms, molecules and cells are not working harmoniously as God intended them to, but are in constant conflict with each other to produce discord, misery and death to the world, it is because we (the human race) triggered LOSAD by playing EGO and now LOSAD is working through those atoms, molecules and cells to bring us the harvest that is due to us.
That explains why seemingly innocent people are caught up as victims of terrorist bombs, air crashes, earthquakes, floods, accidents, etc. That explains why seemingly innocent children are born blind, or deaf and dumb or without limbs. It has nothing to do with the "inscrutable will of God", as many Christians think, but everything to do with the sins committed by them or by their ancestors or by their families or their societies, under LOSAD.
LOSAD is relentless, inexorable and implacable and will seek out its victims even though they may hide in caves and in bomb-shelters and cathedrals. Have we cared to count the number of churches and cathedrals that took direct hits during bombing raids in World War Two and obliterated thousands who took shelter therein? LOSAD seeks out its victims, whoever, wherever and whenever, and there is no hiding from it except under the Cross. That explains horrors like the Nazi gas chambers, where LOSAD pursued the Jews who had consciously opted to live under it, even though for 2000 years prior to the Cross they had known they would have the option of breaking out of the Law, through the Cross.
How to break out from LOSAD
The New Testament provides the only answer to LOSAD but it has obviously not worked over the past 2004 years because all around us we see LOSAD rampaging through the world, even through "Christendom", as if the D&R had never happened.
If one wants to see the toll that LOSAD continues to exact from God's children, one has only to visit the local hospital, or hospice, or prison or a psychiatric hospital. Let us visit an inner city slum, or a pub, or a dance hall or even the homes of the rich and the famous. Let us look around a battle field or listen in at any political meeting at a street corner. Let us watch TV news and read the daily papers. We will see that LOSAD is completely in operation. Why is that?
Only because people’s minds are still shrouded in darkness about the nature and power of LOSAD, about what triggers it and about the power of the D&R to deliver us from it, by taking away our sins. People still tend not to know the difference between the OT and the NT, that we must not worship God on "this mountain or in the Temple but in Spirit". Believers continue to turn for solace more often to the OT than to the NT, thereby tying themselves to LOSAD more and more. They have not been enlightened about the deeper meaning of the allegories of Genesis, interpreting them only literally, and consequently lack an understanding of LOSAD and how it is triggered and how it works.
They have attributed either to God or to Satan what is really the responsibility of LOSAD. Have we realised that most churches and believers will interpret a natural disaster as being either an Act of God or as the work of Satan, whereas the truth is that every so-called natural disaster is triggered by the sin – or effects of sin – of human beings? Failure to understand this is the measure of the darkness in which believers still dwell.
The question is how to get rid of this mountain of sins – personal sins, family sins, ancestral sins, ethnic sins – all of which form an intricate, interwoven, dense and impenetrable system within which each one of us is implicated in each other. Yes, we are all each other's keepers. That is to say, each one of us has to bear the weight not only of our own sins but also of the sins of the world in proportion to how closely we are linked to them. Multiply that by 6 billion, which is the current population of the world, and growing at 3% a year, and we have an idea of the "sins of the world" that we have to take to the Cross. Each one of these 6 billion becomes a focal point for the sins of everyone else. That is why, however much we try to walk the straight and narrow, however much we try to be "good" and "righteous" we keep falling and we all keep dying! It is like trying to walk free from a bed of molten tar. Ultimately, weary and distraught, we give up, collapse on the tar, and perish.
Getting rid of my personal sins also involves getting rid of the sins of the whole world simultaneously. LOSAD and its effects (the sins of the world) are a vast and incomprehensible system. Wretched man that I am, since I cannot break free from this system myself, who can do this for me?
Jesus Christ, the only answer
Jesus Christ is the only answer. Although impersonal, LOSAD works its way relentlessly until all its demands are met, until all the debts owed to it by the entire human race are paid off in full. Even if all human beings who have ever lived and who are living now and will ever live in the future were to band themselves together to pay off those debts, we cannot pay off even a minute fraction, because for every payment a human makes he or she is incurring ten more debts. Only someone who is Infinite and Sinless can make that payment. By Infinite is meant a limitless capacity to absorb others' pains and debts, and by Sinless is meant someone who has no sins to pay off himself. And that someone is Jesus Christ.
That is the meaning of the Crucifixion. No film that human beings make nor any book they write, or any painting or statue however wonderful as a work of art, can ever communicate the truth that is in Jesus Christ. Only something instituted by Jesus Christ Himself can convey that truth, and that is the Lord's Supper:
"Unless you eat my flesh and drink my blood you will not have life …..This is my body given up for you. This is my blood shed for the remission of your sins".
The Lord's Supper
Upon Calvary, the Lord took away the sins of the world and crucified the world unto us. However, since the Resurrection, either through ignorance or through self-will or through disobedience, human beings have continued to accumulate sins. Anticipating this in His omniscience, the Lord left us, in addition to His Spirit, His material Body and Blood also, as a guarantee that His own image and likeness can and will be formed in us, if we will but take Him at His word.
The Lord imparts Himself to us through His Spirit, through His Word, through His Church (the body of believers) and through His Body and Blood. Most believers remain stuck with only one or two of these and only a minuscule few remain open to the Lord's total outpouring. Some believe that if they are anointed with the Spirit and talk in tongues it is sufficient. Others believe that if they scour the Bible line and by line and memorise chunks of it they are all right and if they do everything according to the letter of the word, even though the “letter killeth", they will pull through. Still others believe that if they abide by the rituals of the church and conform to all its dogma they need not worry about the Spirit or the Word. Some also believe that if they partake of a piece of bread and some Ribena once a month, as a token gesture to His memory, it would be the same as taking in his Body and Blood as commanded by Jesus in John chapter 6.
If believers want to reproduce in their lives the image and likeness of the risen Lord, they need to be open to all four channels through which the Lord imparts Himself - the Spirit, the Word, the Church and the Body and Blood. Unfortunately, because of denominational enmities, pettiness and egoism, believers remain trapped within their little cubicles of prejudice and thereby prevent the full flowering of the Lord's presence in the midst of them. If we contemplate for a moment, we will soon realise that it is EGO, the original sin, that is at the bottom of this fragmentation.
The New Creation
We do not have to wait for the Apocalypse for us to realise the new creation. In one sense the Apocalypse, where all the sins of the world are brought to a climax, was the Crucifixion itself. At Calvary, the Lord gathered unto Himself all the sins of the world; that is, sins that should have been paid off sin by sin, individual by individual, were all gathered together and met in full on the Cross. In that sense the death and resurrection was itself an Apocalypse, an ending or a winding down as well as a new beginning. However, because the world has not yet fully appropriated the benefits of that event, it will now have to face the second Apocalypse as if the death and resurrection had never taken place.
Mercifully however, those who have extricated themselves from LOSAD by consciously placing upon Jesus on the cross all their personal sins, their family sins and racial sins, will be saved the horrors of what is coming. In proportion to their dedication they will also be able to minimise its effects on their families, friends, etc, also. That is why the Lord said, "Feed my sheep" and why the Word also says, "He believed, and he and his household were saved".
At the Resurrection, Jesus Christ raised not only a new human being, but a new creation as well. The new creation has passed from LOSAD and is under LOTSOC (the Law of the Spirit of Christ). There is no pain there, no crying, no mourning, no illness, disease decay or death. The lion shall lie down with the lamb and there shall be no more conflict there.
We may represent the New Creation and the Law which governs it, LOTSOC, and its outcome in the following way:
CHRIST = DEATH AND RESURRECTION= FORGIVENESS OF SINS= DEATH OF FIRST ADAM = RECONCILIATION=THE NEW BIRTH = INDWELLING SPIRIT OF CHRIST=THE LAW OF THE SPIRIT OF CHRIST.
