What the Blood of Jesus has accomplished for us (the relevant scriptures)

The Old Testament establishes clearly that life is in the blood:

For the life of a creature is in the blood (Leviticus 17:11)

The blood is the life (Deuteronomy 12:3)

The Old Testament tells us, in many places, of the saving, protecting and cleansing power of the shed and sprinkled blood of lambs, calves, bulls and goats. All this is but a foretaste of what was to be offered to us through the precious Blood of the Lord Jesus Christ.

In the New Testament, God tells us:

• If you do not drink the Blood of Jesus Christ, you have no life in you. (John 6:53)
• If you do drink His Blood, you have eternal life. (John 6:54)
• If you drink His Blood, Christ remains in you and you in Him. (John 6:56)
• You are purchased for God by the Blood. (Acts 20:28)
• You have received atonement through faith in Christ’s Blood. (Romans 3:25)
• You are justified by His Blood. (Romans 5:9)
• You participate in the Blood of Christ, giving thanks for His cup. (1 Corinthians 10:16)
• You have redemption through His Blood. (Ephesians 1:7)
• You have been brought near to God through the Blood. (Ephesians 2:13)
• You have peace with God through the Blood. (Colossians 1:20)
• Your conscience is cleansed by the Blood. (Hebrews 9:14)
• You receive forgiveness through the shedding of the Blood. (Hebrews 9:22)
• You have confidence to enter God’s Presence by the blood. (Hebrews 10:19)
• You are given a new covenant with God through the sprinkled Blood. (Hebrews 12:24)
• You are made holy by the Blood. ( Hebrews 13:12)
• You were redeemed by the Blood. (1 Peter 1:18&19)
• You are purified from all sin by the Blood. (1 John 1:7)
• You are set free from sin by the Blood. (Revelation 1:5)
• You are purchased by the Blood. (Revelation 5:9)
• You overcome the devil by the Blood. (Revelation 12:11)

Deuteronomy 12:3

Matthew 26:28

This is my blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins.

Mark 14:24

This is my blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many, he said to them.

Luke 22:20

In the same way, after the supper he took the cup, saying, This cup is the new covenant in my blood, which is poured out for you.

John 6:53

Jesus said to them, I tell you the truth, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you have no life in you.

John 6:54

Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise him up at the last day.

John 6:55

For my flesh is real food and my blood is real drink.

John 6:56

Acts 20:28

God presented him as a sacrifice of atonement, through faith in his blood.

Romans 5:9

Since we have now been justified by his blood, how much more shall we be saved from God's wrath through him!

1 Corinthians 10:16

Is not the cup of thanksgiving for which we give thanks a participation in the blood of Christ? And is not the bread that we break a participation in the body of Christ?

1 Corinthians 11:25

In the same way, after supper he took the cup, saying, This cup is the new covenant in my blood; do this, whenever you drink it, in remembrance of me.

Ephesians 1:7

In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God's grace

Ephesians 2:13

But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far away have been brought near through the blood of Christ.

Colossians 1:20

and through him to reconcile to himself all things, whether things on earth or things in heaven, by making peace through his blood, shed on the cross.

Hebrews 9:7

But only the high priest entered the inner room, and that only once a year, and never without blood, which he offered for himself and for the sins the people had committed in ignorance.

Hebrews 9:11

[The Blood of Christ ] When Christ came as high priest of the good things that are already here, he went through the greater and more perfect tabernacle that is not man-made, that is to say, not a part of this creation.

Hebrews 9:12

He did not enter by means of the blood of goats and calves; but he entered the Most Holy Place once for all by his own blood, having obtained eternal redemption.

Hebrews 9:14

How much more, then, will the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself unblemished to God, cleanse our consciences from acts that lead to death, so that we may serve the living God!

Hebrews 9:18

This is why even the first covenant was not put into effect without blood.

Hebrews 9:20

He said, This is the blood of the covenant, which God has commanded you to keep.

In the same way, he sprinkled with the blood both the tabernacle and everything used in its ceremonies.

Hebrews 9:22

In fact, the law requires that nearly everything be cleansed with blood, and without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness.

Hebrews 9:25

Nor did he enter heaven to offer himself again and again, the way the high priest enters the Most Holy Place every year with blood that is not his own.

Hebrews 10:19

Therefore, brothers, since we have confidence to enter the Most Holy Place by the blood of Jesus,

Hebrews 10:29

How much more severely do you think a man deserves to be punished who has trampled the Son of God under foot, who has treated as an unholy thing the blood of the covenant that sanctified him, and who has insulted the Spirit of grace?

Hebrews 11:28

By faith he kept the Passover and the sprinkling of blood, so that the destroyer of the firstborn would not touch the firstborn of Israel.

Hebrews 12:24

to Jesus the mediator of a new covenant, and to the sprinkled blood that speaks a better word than the blood of Abel.

Hebrews 13:12

And so Jesus also suffered outside the city gate to make the people holy through his own blood.

They overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony; they did not love their lives so much as to shrink from death.

Revelation 19:13

He is dressed in a robe dipped in blood, and his name is the Word of God.
